"Sometimes I think that all anyone needs in life is lots of popcorn and a few Lovelies." ~ Sam Savage
You sit down to watch a movie, you have a comfy seat, a blanket, and your favorite cuddle buddy, but somethings missing. Ever just crave something salty and sweet at the same time? What about spicy and sweet? Well you want to know what the perfect carrier for those flavors is? Popcorn! It happens to be the perfect carrier for all kinds of different seasonings due to its natural mild flavor. It is so versatile that it's hard to find anyone that doesn't like it in some form. In honor of national popcorn day, January 19th, I'm sharing 7 of my favorite recipes.
1. Parmesan Ranch Popcorn
One of my favorite recipes here! It's the perfect combination of cheese and spices! The awesome thing about it is it's easy to make! It only takes 4 things: kernels, shredded Parmesan, butter, and some Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning.
Make your bag of popcorn or 1/2 cup of kernels. Then melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Once the butter is melted, drizzle over the kernels, shaking the kernels around so that it distributes evenly. Next mix together 1 1/2 tbsp of Hidden Valley ranch seasoning with 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle this mixture over the kernels till it meets your tastes. Enjoy!
2. Spicy Taco Popcorn
Mmm... Tacos! Only thing that's comes close to tacos is taco flavored food. Spicy taco popcorn was an amazing discovery in my life! What's even better? Its super easy to make! All you need is kernels, butter, and some of your favorite taco seasoning! I love Old El Paso Hot & Spicy Taco Seasoning.
This ones simple as simple gets! Make your popcorn, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and drizzle it over the kernels, and sprinkle 1 1/2 tablespoons of your favorite taco seasoning over the kernels to taste! Bon Appetit!
3. Dill Pickle Popcorn
The only thing that comes close to my love for tacos is my love for pickles! Pickles are the perfect combination of salty and sour! I first tried dill pickle popcorn at a wedding of all places. However, I fell in love and began to look for the perfect recipe. This recipe takes a few more ingredients to make than the last 2 but it's definitely worth it if your a pickle lover! I found the recipe over at Mixitupcookbook.blogspot.com , So go check it out over there!
4. Cookies & Cream Popcorn
What's your favorite ice cream flavor? Mine would definitely be cookies & cream. I can't get enough of it! So when I was introduced to cookies & cream popcorn I knew I had to try it. I found a winner guys! It's the perfect combo of salty and sweet. Plus who can hate something with Oreo's in it?!
Prepare your popcorn, then it's time to make the cookies & cream mix. Warm up 3/4 cup of condensed milk in a pot over medium heat. While it's simmering take the time to scrape out the filling from the Oreo's into the pot and set aside the cookies. Once the filling is melted, aka no more chunks, drizzle it over the kernels. Take the cookies, put them in a bag, and go to town on them till their in little bits! When small enough for your liking sprinkle them over the kernels and enjoy!
5. Chocolate Potato Chip Popcorn
What do you think of when you think of something that's both salty and crunchy? If you didn't think popcorn, then I'm willing to bet you thought potato chip! The perfect sweet flavor to pair with salty? Chocolate! So this mixture of chocolate, potato chips, and popcorn is the perfect snack for a salty sweet craving.
Pop your kernels, and melt 4 oz dark chocolate, 4 oz of white chocolate, and 4 tbsp of butter in a glass dish in the microwave. Pay attention to the heating instructions on the chocolate packages so that you don't burn it! (I like to heat it in 20 second increments to be safe.) Drizzle the chocolate butter mixture over the kernels carefully! Take 2 cups of potato chips and crush them inside a sealed bag. Once crushed to your desired size sprinkle them over the kernels and dig in!
6. Sour Cream & Onion Popcorn
Speaking of potato chips, do you have a favorite flavor of them? I know I do and it happens to be sour cream & onion! This recipe I found at Shutterbean.com is the perfect fix for my potato chip cravings when I don't want something as greasy and something a little lighter. Go visit them and check out the delish recipe!
7. Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn
One of the most comforting foods from my childhood was cinnamon sugar toast. Cinnamon and sugar are such a magical combination. They mix together so well and nothing can bring me back faster to feeling like a kid again. Cinnamon sugar popcorn just feels a little more grown up, but it's just as easy to make!
Melt 4 tbsp of butter and pour it over your freshly popped kernels. Then sprinkle over a mixture made up of 1 1/2 tbsp of sugar and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. You will end up with the most delicious cinnamon sugar concoction you ever put in your mouth!
In honor of national popcorn day I hope your try one or two of these out! I know I will be!
Do you have a favorite popcorn flavor? What is it I'd love to know and maybe try it out if I haven't yet!
With Love,
Desiree♥
